Eight-Game Homestand Highlighted by Bark in the Park, Military Appreciation Night, Mother's Day Fest

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers play host to Bark in the Park presented by Marmaduke, Mother's Day presented by Stephen Vincent Jewelers and Military Appreciation Night presented by FLIR Systems during an event-filled, eight-game homestand, starting Monday at PGE Park.

The Beavers open an exciting, four-game series with the Northwest-rival Tacoma Rainiers on Monday night. Two nights later, on Wednesday, PGE Park opens its doors for a Beavers-style Cinco de Mayo celebration with taco specials all night long.

On Friday night, the Beavers invite fans to bring their dogs to the ballpark for Bark in the Park presented by Marmaduke as they open a four-game set with the Reno Aces. JD Platt and the K-9 Kings, as seen on CBS' "Greatest American Dog," will be on hand to entertain.

The club honors local military personnel on Saturday night with Military Appreciation Night presented by FLIR Systems. All active members of the armed forces will be welcomed into the park free of charge, and family and friends will be given a discount on infield reserved tickets. As part of Fred Meyer Super Giveaway Saturday, the first 2,000 fans receive a cool 3D View-Master from FLIR Systems, with the opportunity to win a variety of Beavers prizes, including up to 10 complimentary Beavers' nightly suites.

The Beavers round out the weekend with Mother's Day presented by Stephen Vincent Jewelers on Sunday. The first 2,000 women, 18 and over, at the game will get cubic zirconia diamonds on their special day, while the first 1,000 will get flowers. Furthermore, by taking the barcode from her cubic zirconias to a local Stephen Vincent Jewelers, one lucky woman will win an authentic diamond.

The four-game homestand concludes Monday as the Beavers feature their second US Bank Art & Science of Baseball School Day presented by Intel of the season. Representatives from OMSI will be on hand to provide Portland-area kids a day of learning and baseball as part of the ultimate field trip at the ballpark. Gates open at 9 a.m.; the game begins at 11:05 a.m.

Two of the eight games on the homestand will be televised live on FSN, including Monday night's contest against Tacoma and on Monday, May 10, against Reno.

Tickets for the Beavers series against Tacoma, the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, and Reno, the Triple-A club of the Arizona Diamondbacks, are available through the PGE Park box office, area Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at (800) 745-3000. SPECIAL EVENT HIGHLIGHTS (Homestand 3): Monday, May 3

Make A Difference Monday - Beavers vs. Tacoma - 7:05 p.m. The Beavers kick off the homestand by hosting rivals Tacoma at PGE Park live on FSN. The Sunshine Division will be on-hand to collect non-perishable food items as part of another Make A Difference Monday at the park.

Tuesday, May 4

Fred Meyer $4 Tuesday - Beavers vs. Tacoma - 7:05 p.m. Portland continues its series with Tacoma on a Fred Meyer $4 Tuesday. Throughout the day, 200 general admission tickets will be available for $4 through the PGE Park box office and Ticketmaster outlets at local Fred Meyer locations.

Wednesday, May 5

Cinco de Mayo - Beavers vs. Tacoma - 7:05 p.m. The Beavers take on Tacoma on a Win-Win Wednesday at PGE Park live on FSN. If the Beavers can pull off a win over the Rainiers, each fan in attendance can redeem their ticket from Wednesday's game for entry into a future Sunday-Wednesday Beavers home game. In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, the Beavers are offering discounted tacos in the Widmer Garden. Also, a Beavers win means fans will be treated to a voucher to nearby Tropical Smoothie.

Thursday, May 6

Miller Lite Thursday - Beavers vs. Tacoma - 7:05 p.m. A four-game series against the Beavers' heated rivals comes to a close with the first Miller Lite Thursday of May. If you have not yet been to a Miller Lite Thursday in 2010, the games now feature a variety of food and beverage happy hour specials prior to the first pitch from 6-7 p.m. in the Widmer Garden.

Friday, May 7

Bark in the Park presented by Marmaduke - Beavers vs. Reno - 7:05 p.m. The Beavers welcome the Reno Aces to PGE Park for a four-game series with the first Bark in the Park presented by Marmaduke of 2010, featuring performances by JD Platt and the K9 Kings throughout the game. Fans are invited to bring their dogs along for a spring evening at the ballpark. The Beavers play host to another Zenner's $1 Menu Friday, featuring select menu items - Zenner's hot dogs, Sierra Springs water and Fudgesicle and Creamsicle treats - for only $1.

Saturday, May 8

Military Appreciation Night presented by FLIR Systems - Beavers vs. Reno - 7:05 p.m.

The homestand rolls along with Military Appreciation Night presented by FLIR Systems on a Fred Meyer Super Giveaway Saturday. All active military personnel will gain free admission to the game by showing military identification, while family and friends are eligible for steeply discounted infield reserve tickets. The first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive a 3D View-Master, with 10 lucky fans winning a free suite for an upcoming Beavers game. 200 other fans will find in their view masters a coupon redeemable for a $1 Beavers ticket.

Sunday, May 9

Mother's Day presented by Stephen Vincent Jewelers / Kids Day - Beavers vs. Reno - 2:05 p.m.

Bring your mom to the park to celebrate Mother's Day presented by Stephen Vincent Jewelers. The first 1,000 women, 18 and over, through the gates will receive flowers, and the first 2,000 will receive cubic zirconia diamonds courtesy of Stephen Vincent Jewelers. But it gets better: one lucky lady will find, that if she takes her cubic zirconia package to Stephen Vincent Jewelers, she will receive an authentic, 1/2-carat diamond. During the game, the Beavers will honor the winner of the "Best Mother" contest - through www.portlandbeavers.com, fans can submit an essay, 100 words or fewer, explaining why their mother is the best - with an on-field ceremony and an authentic, 1/2-carat diamond of her own. Prior to the first pitch, kids 12 and under can take advantage of the Beavers' Kids-Eat-Free plan, play catch on the field and get autographs. After the game, kids (and moms) are invited to run the bases.

Monday, May 10

US Bank Art & Science of Baseball School Day - Beavers vs. Reno - 11:05 a.m. The Beavers conclude their homestand against the Aces with a special US Bank Art & Science of Baseball School Day presented by Intel. Portland-area kids take over PGE Park for a day of fun and learning, featuring special exhibits and a pre-game presentation from OMSI starting at 9 a.m.
