ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Round Rock Express (30-21) fell to the Oklahoma City Dodgers (30-21) on Thursday night at Dell Diamond by a final score of 6-2.
Oklahoma City reliever RHP Jon Duplantier (4-0, 3.13) earned the win after a 2.1-inning performance. He did not allow a run and collected three strikeouts. Round Rock starter LHP Jake Latz (3-5, 5.44) was tagged with the loss after a 1.2-inning performance that saw three earned runs on three hits. He struck out three and walked three.
Along the Train Tracks:
Oklahoma City took advantage of back-to-back walks issued to LF Andy Burns and RF Ryan Noda to start the second inning. A single for C Tomas Telis loaded the bases before CF Drew Avans scored the first run of the night on a sacrifice fly. With one out, SS Eddy Alvarez walked to load the bases again and 3B Miguel Vargas roped a double to extend the lead to 3-0.
Round Rock C Yohel Pozo led the fourth inning off with a bang. A solo home run to left field traveled 344 feet and trimmed the Oklahoma City lead to 3-1.
Three consecutive two-out singles scored a run for Oklahoma City in the fifth inning. Burns and Noda started the rally before Telis singled to give the Dodgers a 4-1 advantage.
In the sixth frame, three singles started the inning for the Dodgers. The third from Vargas scored a run and extended the lead to 5-1. A groundout for 1B Jake Lamb plated one more as the Dodgers took a comfortable 6-1 advantage.
The E-Train offense tacked a run on in the eighth inning. RF Leody Taveras led the frame off with a double before LF Nick Solak beat the shift and singled through the right side of the infield to score Taveras. That marked the final run of the night as Oklahoma City tossed a scoreless ninth inning for the 6-2 victory.
E-Train Excerpts:
Prior to LF Nick Solak's eighth-inning single that drove home RF Leody Taveras, the last time Round Rock scored a run that was not manufactured on a home run came on Saturday, May 28 against in Albuquerque, 33.0 innings before tonight's RBI single.
In his second Major League rehab appearance, Texas Rangers RHP José Leclerc tossed 2.0 relief innings of scoreless baseball. He allowed one hit and struck out two during his time on the mound.
Express C Yohel Pozo recorded the lone multi-hit performance of the night for Round Rock. He went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
