Salt Lake Bees News Release

Magneuris Sierra gave the Bees a chance with a game-tying, two-out home run in the bottom of the ninth inning, but the Chihuahuas would score the game winner in the 10th to earn the 4-3 victory. It was Salt Lake's first extra inning loss of the season and drops them to 28-23 on the season. El Paso improves to 28-23 with the win.

The Bees only had five hits in the game, three of them coming from David MacKinnon. The first baseman went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, and a run scored. Sierra went 1-for-4 with the ninth-inning home run and Dillon Thomas went 1-for-5 with a sixth-inning home run.

Janson Junk put together Salt Lake's 18th quality start of the season, going six innings and giving up just one run on four hits. It was his second consecutive quality start and the second start of the season in which he went six or more innings.

El Paso scored their first run of the game in the first inning and held the 1-0 lead until the sixth inning. Thomas tied things up with his solo shot and Jo Adell hit a sacrifice fly to make it 2-1 Bees.

The Chihuahuas took the lead back with two runs in the eighth inning and had the Bees down to their final out of the game in the ninth. Sierra put the second pitch he saw on a line just over the fence in right-center field to give the Bees extra life.

With a runner placed on second base to start the 10th inning, El Paso would score on the first at-bat to make it 4-3. Salt Lake had a runner on third base with no outs in the bottom of the 10th, but couldn't score a run, giving El Paso the win.

The two teams will be back in action tomorrow at 6:35 p.m.
