Today's Game: The OKC Dodgers wrap up their lone series of the season against the Fresno Grizzlies at 7:05 p.m. at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Fresno leads the series, 3-0, as the Dodgers try to avoid their first four-game series sweep of the season...OKC has now lost five straight games - tied for their longest losing skid of the season - following a season-best six-game winning streak.
Last Game: The Dodgers led from the first through eighth innings Sunday night, but Fresno scored twice in the top of the ninth to send the Dodgers to a 5-4 loss at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The Dodgers loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth with two outs, but were unable to bring home a run. OKC took the lead in its first at-bat on a sacrifice fly by Shane Peterson in the first inning. Errol Robinson lined a solo homer out to left field that landed on the roof of the Budweiser Deck with two outs in the second inning. Zach Reks' two-run homer out to center field in the third inning pushed OKC's lead to 4-0. Fresno's Raudy Read knocked a RBI double into left field to cut OKC's lead to 4-1 in the top of the fourth. Fresno then added two runs in the top of the seventh on back-to-back two-out RBI singles by Andrew Stevenson and Wilmer Difo to cut OKC's lead to one run. Collin Cowgill led off the ninth inning with a walk, and after a sac bunt and infield single, Cowgill then scored when Carter Kieboom hit a fly ball into shallow right field that landed between three OKC defenders for a bloop single. Yadiel Hernandez followed and grounded into a fielder's choice that allowed the go-ahead run to score for a 5-4 Fresno lead. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, three straight OKC batters reached base. However, Fresno pitcher Dakota Bacus struck out Reks to end the game and record his second save. Fresno reliever Scott Copeland (4-3) picked up the win. Dodgers reliever JT Chargois (1-2) was charged with his second loss of the series.
Today's Probable Pitcher: Brock Stewart (0-4) returns from the Injured List to make his first start since mid-May and ninth of the season overall with OKC...Stewart last started May 19 against Omaha in OKC, allowing six runs on five hits over 4.0 innings with a season-high four walks and four strikeouts. He was charged with the loss in OKC's 11-1 defeat...Following the outing, Stewart went to the Injured List May 21, retroactive to May 20...This season Stewart is holding opponents to a .219 clip with runners on base and .209 with RISP...Earlier this season, Stewart made his first career Major League Opening Day roster and appeared in three games for the LA Dodgers before being optioned to OKC April 7...Last season with OKC, Stewart tied with Daniel Corcino for the most starts (19) and ranked third on the team in strikeouts (80) and innings pitched (96.1), while posting a 2.99 ERA and 3-3 record...Stewart was selected by the Dodgers in the sixth round of the 2014 MLB Draft from Illinois State University and was named the Dodgers' 2016 Branch Rickey Minor League Pitcher of the Year...Tonight is his first career appearance against the Grizzlies.
Against the Grizzlies: 2019: 0-3 2018: 2-2 All-time: 60-44 At OKC: 32-20 The Dodgers and Grizzlies are meeting for their lone series of the season...Fresno is in its first season as the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals after serving as a Houston Astros affiliate from 2015-18 and the San Francisco Giants from 1998-2014...The teams split their four-game series in Fresno last season with the Dodgers winning the finale, 5-4, in 10 innings...The teams have split their last two series in OKC in 2017 and 2015...Fresno has already clinched a series victory for just the third time ever against OKC (3-12-7), and the Grizzlies are looking for their first sweep at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark since 2010...Entering tonight, the Grizzlies have won 12 of the last 16 and 13 of the last 18 meetings between the teams, including a 6-2 mark over the last eight games in Bricktown.
Heartbreakers Club: Last night marked the first time this season the Dodgers lost a game when leading after seven or eight innings, carrying a 19-0 record in both situations into yesterday's game...During the team's current five-game losing streak, there have been three one-run losses and four losses by one or two runs. The loss by more than two runs was two nights ago when Fresno led by one run entering the ninth inning...Yesterday also marked the eight time an opponent notched a last at-bat win, and it was the third time the Dodgers lost a game after leading by at least four runs at some point.
I Came in Like a Rek-ing Ball: Zach Reks connected on a two-run homer in the third inning last night and has now homered in three straight games for the for the first time in his three-year professional career - each coincidentally in the third inning. He is the first Dodger to homer in three straight games since Breyvic Valera did it May 22-24, 2018 at Memphis...Reks has hit safely in nine straight starts, going 13-for-36 (.361) with four home runs, four doubles and 11 RBI...He's taken a shine to Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, batting .333 (14x42) with five homers and 11 RBI over his first 11 games in OKC...Reks now leads Dodgers minor leaguers with 15 total homers between OKC and Double-A Tulsa. Between 2017-18, Reks hit just seven homers total.
Dinger Details: The Dodgers hit two home runs last night courtesy of Errol Robinson and Zach Reks and have now homered in a season-best 11 straight games. OKC has 19 homers during the stretch, including six multi-homer games. Nine different players have accounted for the homers, including four by Zach Reks and Edwin RÃ-os, as well as two each by Rocky Gale, Kyle Garlick, Drew Jackson and Shane Peterson...OKC last homered in 11 straight games as part of a 14-game stretch May 13-27, 2017...Last night the Dodgers held their opponent without a homer for the fifth time in the last seven games. They've only allowed three homers through eight games in June, which is fewest among all Triple-A teams.
Rock-N-Roll: Rocky Gale recorded his fourth straight multi-hit game last night and his fifth in the last six games. Over his last four outings, Gale is 9-for-16 with two homers, a double, six RBI and four runs scored. Since May 30, Gale is 11-for-26 (.423) with four extra-base hits, eight RBI and six runs scored. During that time he's raised his season batting average with OKC by 91 points.
Home-Less: This already the third time this season the Dodgers have dropped five straight home games...With last night's loss, the Dodgers fell to 9-20 at home this season, including a 6-17 mark over the last 23 games at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The nine home victories are tied for the fewest in all of the Minors, and only the High-A Modesto Nuts own a lower home winning percentage (9-21)...The team has an overall -63 run differential at home and -59 over the last 23 games...Fourteen times in in the last 24 home games OKC allowed seven or more runs and the 20th time in 24 home games the opponent scored at least five runs...The team's current 6.36 ERA at home is fourth-highest in the Minors, ahead of Louisville (6.41), Albuquerque (6.59) and Reno (7.33)...Last season the Dodgers didn't lose their 20th home game until July 27 (33-20).
Around the Horn: Edwin RÃ-os was held without a hit last night, but drew two walks, as his season-best 10-game hitting streak came to an end. He went 15-for-39 (.385) with four homers, five doubles, 11 RBI and eight runs scored during the stretch...This is the fifth time this season the Dodgers enter a series finale looking to avoid a sweep and have gone 3-1 in the those games...The Dodgers have committed six errors over the last two games after committing just one error over the previous nine games...OKC has not held its opponent scoreless through the first four innings of a game since May 10 (29 games)...Last night was the pitching staff's 30th double-digit strikeout game this season.
