Tulsa Oilers News Release
The Tulsa Oilers won one of three games last weekend, losing back-to-back games by one goal each. Tulsa now stands at 4-3-1, 9 points, third place in the CHL's Northwest Division.
Kicking off the weekend on Halloween night, the Oilers welcomed the Oklahoma City Blazers to town for the second matchup of the Ford Turnpike Series. Dan Gravelle scored twice, and Regan Harper added the game-winning goal and an assist as the Oilers defeated the Blazers 3-2 at the Tulsa Convention Center. Rod Branch made 28 saves to get his third win of the year in goal for the Oilers.
The next night, Tulsa traveled to Wichita to take on the Thunder. Todd Marcellus netted his third two-goal game of the season, and Jason Bermingham racked up two helpers, but it was not enough, as the Oilers fell short 5-4 at the Kansas Coliseum. Tim Kelleher turned away 32 Thunder offerings, but Tulsa could not get the equalizer with the goaltender pulled late in the game.
Sunday night, the Oilers again hit the highway, traveling to Oklahoma City to faceoff with the Blazers for the second time in three nights. The Blazers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but the Oilers chipped away at it, as Wes Scanzano netted a pair of goals, set up by Dan Gravelle and Derek Reynolds. For the second straight night, the Oilers could not get the tying goal with the extra attacker on the ice late, and fell to the Blazers 3-2 at the Ford Center. Goaltender Rod Branch played strong, stopping 38, but suffered his first loss of the season (3-1-1).
