San Angelo Saints News Release
Coming Up This Week â The Saints have another road trip this weekend with a Friday night game in Odessa followed by a Saturday night game in Corpus Christi.
Upcoming Promotions â The Saints' next home game is Nov. 11th and the team is hosting a Veteran's Day Celebration. Every fan will receive a free American Flag at the door. The Goodfellow AFB Choir and Color Guard will present the colors and sing the national anthem â and there will be various other activities involving local veterans at the game.
Week In Review â The Saints went 1-2-0 this week with a road win over Austin and road losses to Rio Grande Valley and Laredo.
Oct. 30th / San Angelo 4 - Austin 2 / The Ice Bats jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead over a Saints team that started sluggish after the bus ride to Austin. But, the Saints bounced back with 3 goals in the 2nd period by Trevor Weisgerber, John Jarram and Ryan Finnerty. An early 3rd period goal by Chris Minard gave the Saints some breathing room and goaltender Brant Nicklin stopped 29-of-31 shots for the win.
Nov. 1st / San Angelo 1 - Rio Grande Valley 2 / The Killer Bees got power play goals in the 1st and 2nd periods to take a 2-0 lead going into the 3rd. The Saints got one back on Chris Minard's power play goal in the 3rd period â but despite peppering Bees goalie Jeff Levy with 40 shots, that is all the Saints could muster as the Bees won 2-1. Scott Reid took the loss for the Saints despite saving 30-of-32 shots on goal.
Nov. 2nd / San Angelo 2 - Laredo 5 / The Bucks jumped all over the road-weary Saints with 3 first period goals and out-shot the Saints 25-9 in the 1st period. The Saints rebounded with two goals in the 2nd period by Andy Doktorchik and Jarret Metz â but the Bucks answered both times and led 5-2 at the 2nd intermission. The Bucks then went into a defensive mode and killed all three 3rd period Saints power plays to preserve the win.
Injury Report â Steve Roberts missed all three games this past weekend due to injury. He is expected back in about a week. No other significant injuries to report and several players suffering from the flu are well on the road to recovery.
