Saints Playoff Roster Set

March 22, 2005 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
San Angelo Saints News Release

San Angelo, TX – The San Angelo Saints of the Central Hockey League announced today that they have set their roster for the upcoming 2005 Ray Miron President Cup Playoffs. Each team is required to submit their 18 man roster to the league by Monday Night. Throughout the playoffs the Saints, along with all other CHL teams, will be able to carry 18 players on their roster, but only allowed to suit up 17 to play, resulting in a healthy scratch for each game.

The Saints will not have forward Justin Van Parys or defenseman Matthew Medley on the roster for the playoffs. Both players have been on the injured reserve list for groin injuries. Although it was thought that Medley might be ready for the playoffs, he will be sat out of the post season play. "It is a tough decision to make", stated Saints Head Coach Ray Edwards. "With Medley out of the lineup we were unable to test his groin is a game situation and we both felt that this was the best thing to do." If either player were to come back it would have resulted in a player being here all year not being able to play in the post season. Both Van Parys and Medley will continue to get treatment for their injuries here in San Angelo and will be released once that treatment is done.

The Saints play the first game of first round of the playoffs this Friday Night in Laredo and then stay for game two Saturday Night. The Saints will then host the Laredo Bucks Friday April 1st and Saturday April 2nd at the Sanctuary here in San Angelo. Fans are able to purchase playoff tickets from the Saints office at 500 Rio Concho Dr, Blair's Western Wear and Elite Physique or by phone at 325-653-9577 today.
