November 3, 2003 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
San Angelo Saints News Release

SAN ANGELO – The San Angelo Saints today announced that head coach Ray Edwards has acquired the rights to rookie forward Dustin Hunter from the Oklahoma City Blazers of the CHL for future considerations.

Hunter is a 5-8, 170-pound center from Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. He played the first 9 games of this season with Oklahoma City after playing Jr. hockey for the Melville Millionaires of the Saskatchewan Jr. Hockey League (SJHL). Last season with Melville, Hunter scored 66 points in 59 games to lead his team in scoring. In three seasons at Melville he accumulated 141 points (50 goals, 91 assists) and 129 penalty minutes in 182 games.

“We recruited Dustin hard this summer but lost him to Oklahoma City,” said Edwards. “We are always looking to get better and when the chance came to acquire him we decided to take it. He’s another hard-working young player that I think could serve our team well.”

Hunter has not yet been officially signed to the Saints roster. He is expected to arrive in the next couple of days and begin practicing with the team. If he is signed, a current player will have to be released to make room for him on the roster.
