Oilers Use Big Home-Stand To Give Back

December 6, 2004 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release

For the second straight year, The Salvation Army will patrol the halls of the Tulsa Convention Center, and Tulsa Oilers fans will serve as the foot soldiers providing food and coats to the Tulsa area.

Once again the Oilers will be giving $2 off $10 tickets to this Friday's game against Oklahoma City for anyone bringing in canned food or a coat to be passed on to the Salvation Army of Tulsa.

"We love the fact that the Salvation Army can use the Oilers as a vehicle to help Tulsa. Our fans response is pretty tell-tale about not only what kind of person is an Oilers fan, but also what kind of person lives in Tulsa and the surrounding area," says Oilers GM Corey MacIntyre.

But the charity doesn't stop there. The following night, the Oilers will host yet another "Teddy-Bear Toss" where fans can again receive $2 off a $10 ticket for every new stuffed animal they bring in. At the first Oilers goal of the game participants will then throw their toy onto the ice where they will be gathered and given to Tulsa area children for the holidays.

In addition, the Oilers will accept toys for the Salvation Army on BOTH nights. Again, a donation will merit $2 off $10 tickets. Also on both nights for every donation made, a voucher will be handed out for a free ticket to any Tuesday night, regular season game for the rest of the season.
