Tulsa Oilers News Release

The Tulsa Oilers and Salvation Army will become close teammates this month.

Fans will have the opportunity to get involved with the partnership during the Oilers annual Teddy Bear toss which will take place during the Oilers game Saturday at 7:35 p.m. against the Oklahoma City Blazers.

The Oilers encourage fans to bring Teddy Bears to the game and throw them onto the ice when the Oilers score their first goal of the game. The bears will be collected and donated to the Salvation Army for distribution during the Christmas season.

"We're delighted to be partnered with the Oilers on this, and seeing the bears flying in the BOK Center should be quite a sight," Sherry Whisner, major gifts director of the Salvation Army Tulsa Metro Area command said. "It will be a major contribution to our toy collection drive."

The teamwork between the Oilers and Salvation Army will continue on Monday December 8^th . Oiler players will be ringing bells at the familiar Salvation Army kettles throughout the Tulsa area, as part of the Salvation Army's sports celebrity challenge. Oiler players will be manning kettles from 2-4 p.m. on Monday.

"This is great for our guys to realize they are fortunate to be with the Oilers in a community like this, and to give something back," Oilers coach Dan Hodge said.

Saturday is also guaranteed win night. If the Oilers don't beat Oklahoma City, each fan in attendance will receive a ticket voucher that can be redeemed for a free ticket for the Oilers home game against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs on Tuesday December 30^th .
