Davis' Hat Trick Nominated for CHL Performance of the Week
December 3, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Broomfield, Colo. - For the second time in two weeks, a Rocky Mountain Rage player has been nominated for the Central Hockey League's Performance of the Week. The hat trick recorded by All-Star centerman Aaron Davis on Nov. 28 at Amarillo is one of five nominees for the week of Nov. 24-30, which comes on the heels of Scott Wray's nomination for the week of Nov. 17-23 after he scored three goals against the Rapid City Rush on Nov. 22.
CHL fans will determine which player or team turned in the Performance of the Week by voting on www.centralhockeyleague.com through Monday, Dec. 8. The winner will be announced on Dec. 9. Wray's performance lost out to Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs forward Travis Clayton, who played in his 709th career CHL game on Nov. 21 to establish a new all-time mark for the league.
Not only did Davis notch the team's second hat trick in three games last Friday night against the Gorillas, but his tally to complete the three-goal performance served as the game-winner with just 2:25 remaining in the team's 5-4 victory. Davis' hat trick also capped a six-game goal streak, the league's longest of the season. The streak ended the next evening during a 3-2 loss to Amarillo.
Davis' competition for Performance of the Week:
Mississippi's three-goal third period comeback in win at Laredo on November 25th
Texas' David Cacciola making 41 saves in 2-1 shootout win versus Bossier-Shreveport on November 26th
Oklahoma City's Cam Doull's two-goal night in 2-1 win at Texas on November 28th
Rapid City's Miguel Beaudry making 41 saves in Rush's home opener shutout win versus Colorado on November 29th
The Rage are currently in Rapid City, S.D., and face-off against the Rush tonight at 7:05 p.m. All of the live play-by-play action can be heard on ESPN Radio 1600 beginning at 6:55 p.m. with the pre-game show. Live audio and video streaming will also be carried on the CHL Network at www.rockymountainrage.com.
Following tonight's tilt, Rocky Mountain visits the Colorado Eagles on Saturday, Dec. 6. The club then returns home for a two-game set with the Arizona Sundogs on Dec. 10 and 12 at Broomfield Event Center.
