OKC Takes Over Top Spot in CHL Coaches Poll

December 3, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release


The Oklahoma City Blazers jumped up a spot to #1 in the latest Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll flip-flopping with the Colorado Eagles who slide from #1 to #2 (the Eagles had been at the top all season thus far). The Blazers received nine of the 16 first place votes, with the Eagles earning the other seven, and finished just two points ahead of Colorado in the voting. The Laredo Bucks have been the big movers in the three polls thus far going from #8 in the first poll to #6 in the last poll and now are ranked #3 in the most recent poll ranking as the top Southern Conference team.

The defending Ray Miron President's Cup Champion Arizona Sundogs make their first appearance in the poll entering at #9. The New Mexico Scorpions dropped out of the poll. Texas and Mississippi each jumped up in the poll with the Brahmas moving up three spots from #7 to #4 and the RiverKings moving up one spot to #7. The teams dropping the most were Bossier-Shreveport and Odessa who each fell two spots.

The CHL Top 10 Coaches Poll will be released on or near the beginning and middle of each month through the regular season. Each first place vote receives 10 points, second place earns nine points, etc.
