Oilers Open At Home For '05-'06

July 27, 2005 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release

Tulsa-With a few issues still to be worked out, one thing about the Tulsa Oilers schedule is locked in for the 2005-2006 season... they'll open at home against the newest team in the Central Hockey League.

October 21st, 2005, the Oilers will open up the doors to the Tulsa Convention Center and welcome the Youngstown SteelHounds.

"It's not only an advantage for us to get to open our season at home it's a nice touch that one of the league's oldest teams will face the league's newest team," says Oilers GM Corey MacIntyre.

Head Coach Butch Kaebel is equally excited, "When you get to start at home, there's an opportunity to take advantage of your home-crowd for a fast start; but in this league, new teams shouldn't be thought of as 'expansion' teams... Youngstown is shaping up to be tough."

Last season, the Oilers played the expansion Topeka Tarantulas 11 times going 10-1.

The remainder of the Oilers schedule will be released later this week with one significant change from last season: the addition of four more games. For '05-'06 the CHL regular season will be 64 games.
