Bucks Open At Home On October 29th

LAREDO, Texas - The 2005 Southern Conference Champion Laredo Bucks and the Central Hockey League announced today that the Bucks will open the home portion of the 2005-06 CHL regular season against the Corpus Christi Rayz at the Laredo Entertainment Center on October 29th. The entire CHL schedule is set to be released in the next several days. Laredo Bucks season ticket holders enjoy many exclusive offers that are available only to season ticket holders. The Bucks will open up at home against a familiar Southeast Division foe. The Bucks and Rayz met 12 times last season with the Bucks winning the season series 7-5. All-time Laredo is 17-2-0 at home against Corpus Christi.

This will be the third time in four seasons that the Bucks have had their home opener against the Rayz. The Bucks beat the Rayz 7-3 in November 2002 in the first ever game played at the LEC as Eric Schneider had a hat trick. This past year in October of 2004 the Bucks beat the Rayz 4-2 in the home opener when Jeff Bes recorded a hat trick.

The Rayz remade their roster over the off-season adding CHL All-Star goalie Scott Reid from the San Angelo Saints. The Bucks defeated the Saints and Reid in seven games in the first round of the 2005 CHL Playoffs. The Bucks won all four games at home at the LEC, but Reid shutout the Bucks all three games on the road.

"This is someone we beat in our building four times in the playoffs," said Bucks President John Beckelhymer about Reid. "This is going to add to the intensity of the rivalry between Laredo and Corpus Christi and we are looking forward to meeting the Rayz head on. Corpus was one of several teams that requested the CHL to have us be their season opener in their building. A lot of teams in the league wanted the Bucks for their openers because Laredo draws well on the road and helps them sell tickets. This will be the first time we see the Rayz and it is on our home ice."

The Bucks will raise their 2005 Southern Conference Championship banner on October 29th. All-time Laredo is 3-0 in home openers.

Training camp for the Bucks will open the second week of October. The regular season is set to start on October 21st.

BUCKS OPEN HOUSE

- The Laredo Bucks will host an open house this Saturday at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Fans will have the chance to tour the building, including a peek behind the scenes into the Bucks locker room. Bucks players will be present at the event. The open house will be highlighted by the annual Bucks summer merchandise sale and Bucks gear will be available at slashed prices. The event is open to all Bucks fans. Fans can look at open seat locations in the LEC and purchase Bucks season tickets by taking advantage of the newly offered payment plans. A Bucks jersey auction will take place and there will be a special unveiling. In addition fans can enter to win door prizes. The Bucks open house runs from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday.

LAREDO ANIMAL PROTECTIVE ANIMAL SHELTER

- The Laredo Animal Protective Society Animal Shelter will also be present at the open house and they will have animals available for adoption. Adoption fees run $50 for dogs and $30 for cats. The fee includes rabies shots, distemper shots, spay or neuter, plus a bath and dip.
