ECHL Tulsa Oilers

Oilers at Americans Today: Preview

January 31, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP

The Oilers and Americans have clashed on the ice three times this week and will close their four-game series in Allen soil today. Each team has walked away with home victories- two for Tulsa and one for Allen. This afternoon the two will meet up for a matinée showdown in the Allen Event Center to determine whether they will split the series in half or the Oilers will walk away with a coveted six points.

Shots have proven a key component between these two and whoever is taking the most is most likely to take the win.

MOOSE MOVES

Delete: Earlier this week Aaron Harstad was recalled by the Manitoba Moose, the American Hockey League Affiliate of the Tulsa Oilers. Harstad notched eight points in 14 games with the Oilers.

Add: Yesterday, the Moose assigned center forward Jimmy Lodge to Tulsa. Today against the Americans will be his Oilers debut. Axel Blomqvist is back. Earlier today the Moose reassigned the 6'7" Swedish forward to Tulsa. Blomqvist has produced four points and seven penalty minutes during his 12 appearances with the Oilers.

LINE LEADERS

The line of Dan DeSalvo, Phil Brewer and Emerson Clark has continued to prove plentiful. Again and again. These skaters have a combination of 22 points in seven games-Clark 8, DeSalvo 8 and Brewer 6.

'HOWE' DOES HE DO IT?

Alongside his competent teammates, Emerson Clark is on quite the roll. With 29 points, Clark has 16 goals and 13 assists (3 goals and 2 assist from Greenville Swamp Rabbits prior to trade). On Saturday, January 9, the forward earned himself a Gordie Howe Hat Trick with a goal, three assists and a fight. For some this would be a rare occurrence, but not for Clark. Only three games later he did it again. Saturday (January 16) against the Steelheads, Clark netted two goals, an assist and a fight. Only one game would separate his third Gordie in 15 days. Three consecutive Saturdays Clark would produce.

The forward owns 115 penalty minutes. The last three times Clark has fought in games the Oilers were down and then came back to win (Wichita 01/09, Idaho 01/16, Missouri 01/23).

Clark carries his team in shooting percentage at 23.0%.

EXTRA DROPS

Kevin Carr is tied for 5th in goaltenders with a goals against average of 2.07 and 4th in minutes (1710). Among rookies in the ECHL, Dan DeSalvo is tied for 6th in scoring with 32 points and 4th in assist with 21 ... Phil Brewer is tied for 1st  in rookie shootout goals with two... The Oilers are 7th in goals against per game averaging 2.54 and 4th in shots against with 27.64...
