Last Night

Jack Downing scored at 2:16 of overtime to give the host Cincinnati Cyclones a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over the Mallards, who had built a 2-0 lead with goals from Kevin Henderson and Vladimir Nikiforov.

Race

While the Mallards did earn one point for last night's sudden death setback, they slipped three points behind third place Cincinnati in the Midwest Division.

Skid

The Mallards last night halted their four game regulation losing streak but have now gone five games without a win. They last endured a longer winless streak when they went six games without a victory (0-4-2) between November 23 and December 5, 2014.

On the Road

The Mallards tonight finish a five-game road trip. They have gone 0-3-1 on that swing.

Sudden Death

The Mallards are now 3-2 in games decided in overtime this season.

Even Steven

The Mallards are at .500 for the first time since a 3-1 loss on November 13, 2015 in Cincinnati left them with a record of 5-5-3. The Mallards have not dipped under .500 since November, 1, 2014 when a 5-4 home loss to the Cyclones left them with a record of 2-3-0.

Tonight's game is the third in three cities in 48 hours for the Mallards. This is the sixth of eight stretches of three games in three nights for the Mallards this season. They have gone 3-2-0 when playing for the third time in three days.

Among defensemen, Mike Monfredo is tied for fourth in the ECHL in assists (20) and tied for seventh in points (24).

Tonight's game is the first ever meeting between the Mallards and Walleye.

Special Teams

The Mallards went 3-for-3 on the penalty kill last night and have survived 19 of their foes' last 20 power plays. The Mallard went 0-for-4 on the power play last night and have converted just one of their last 23 advantages. The Mallards rank third in the ECHL in penalty killing (86.6 percent) and twentieth on the power play (15.7 percent).
