Red Deer, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings suffered a 4-1 defeat to the Red Deer Rebels on Saturday night at the Peavey Mart Centrium.

A tight checking first period saw the Oil Kings and Rebels enter the first intermission scoreless.

Kolby Hay was able to knock aside all 12 shots flung his way by the Rebels, while Chase Wutzke wasn't beaten on the 10 Oil Kings shots he faced in the opening 20 minutes.

In the second period, the Rebels would break the scoreless deadlock 5:11 in after Frantisek Formanek setup Kai Uchacz for a backdoor tap in.

The Oil Kings were able to answer back just past the midway mark of the period after Roan Woodward led a three-on-two rush over the Red Deer blue line, dropped the puck off for Ty Nash who zipped a shot over the left pad of Wutzke for his 13th goal of the season.

Before the period was out though, the Rebels were able to regain their lead on Uchacz's second of the game as he picked the top corner of the Edmonton net with a shot from the right circle on a Red Deer power play at the 15:57 mark.

In the third period, the Oil Kings pressed for an equalizer but were unable to solve Wutzke for a second time. In the closing moments, the Rebels got empty net goals from Dwayne Jean Jr. and Uchacz to seal the victory.

Hay finished the night making 37 saves, while Wutkze turned in 28. Edmonton went 0-for-5 on the power play, Red Deer was 1-for-4.
