O'Hoppe Hammers to Win It in the Ninth against Hartford

The Reading Fightin Phils topped the Hartford Yard Goats 5-2 in game five of the series. Matt Kroon had a four hit night, while Logan O'Hoppe had another three-hit game which he capped off with the game winning homer. Bryson Stott stretched his on-base streak to 18 games with two walks tonight.

Reading scored first in the third as Kroon sent in Chris Cornelius.

Hartford got on the board and took the lead with Michael Toglia's two-run home run in the fourth.

The R-Phils tied things up at two thanks to Grenny Cumana. An RBI double sent home O'Hoppe.

O'Hoppe came in clutch for Reading in the top of the ninth! With Kroon's base hit and Stott's walk three runs scored off of O'Hoppe's homer. Reading led 5-2.

Hans Crouse threw five frames allowing just two runs on four hits. Both runs came off of a home run. He struck out a season-high seven batters. Zach Warren was first out of the 'pen for the sixth. He let up a lead off hit but then struck out the side for a clean inning. Kyle Dohy (W, 4-0) took the ball in relief for the eighth. He pitched two scoreless innings to keep Reading in the ballgame. Brian Marconi (S, 13) took on the ninth to slam the door shut on Hartford.

Tomorrow's contest against the Hartford Yard Goats begins at 1:00PM.
