
Offense Struggles in 6-3 Loss

The SeaWolves took an early lead on Saturday night at People's Natural Gas Field but could not put together a late charge as they dropped the middle game of the series to the Altoona Curve 6-3.
The SeaWolves got on the board first in the top of the second inning against Curve starter Shairon Martis when Jordan Lennerton blasted an opposite field home run, his ninth, for a 1-0 lead.
Altoona tied the game in the last of the third against Erie starter Kelvin De La Cruz. Jeremy Farrell walked to start the inning and advanced to third on a Miles Durham single. Farrell scored on a wild pitch, tying the game 1-1.
The Curve took the lead in the last of the fourth. Jarek Cunningham led off, was hit by a pitch, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Ramon Cabrera groundout making it 2-1 Altoona.
Altoona added to its lead in the fifth. Farrell singled and was tripled home by Miles Durham for a 3-1 lead. Durham scored on a Quincy Latimore sacrifice fly to left for a 4-1 edge.
In the sixth, Cunningham led off with a double and would eventually score on a double play making it 5-1 Curve.
Erie got a pair against reliever Matt McSwain in the top of the seventh. Ben Guez and Rawley Bishop each singled to start the inning. The runners advanced to scoring position on a Tony Plagman groundout. Guez scored on an error by the third baseman Farrell on a ground ball off the bat of Douglas. Jamie Johnson singled home Bishop making it 5-3. The 'Wolves would get no closer.
Altoona went back ahead by three in the eighth. Tony Sanchez singled with one out and scored on a two-out Matt Curry triple.
De La Cruz (2-5) took the loss allowing four runs on four its with two walks and three strikeouts in five innings of work
Martis (2-0) earned the win tossing six innings allowing a run. The only hit he gave up was the Lennerton home run.
Vic Black tossed a perfect ninth with two strikeouts earning his second save.
The 'Wolves look to avoid the sweep on Saturday night in Altoona.6:00 First Pitch. Lefty Ramon Garcia (2-2, 6.00 ERA) looks for his third straight win against RHP Tim Alderson (2-1, 2.57 ERA).
