Harrisburg Senators News Release

Saturday evening on City Island in front of more than 7,600 fans at Metro Bank Park, the Bowie Baysox were able to once again keep the Harrisburg Senators offense quiet, beating the Sens 2-1.

Lefty Mike Ballard turned in a strong outing for Harrisburg, allowing just two fourth inning runs on a Caleb Joseph homerun. Following the homer, Ballard responded by retiring the final eleven that he faced before giving way to the bullpen and Erik Davis.

Davis followed up Ballard by retiring the first five that he faced, allowing just a two-out ninth-inning single to Manny Machado, before inducing a ground ball to end the frame.

Harrisburg's offense however struggled to get going. The lone Senators run came in the seventh inning after Destin Hood led off with a single. He then advanced to second and third on wild pitches by Bowie's Timothy Bascom, before scoring on a fielding error of a ball hit by Chris Rahl.

Harrisburg had opportunities with runners at third and one out in the seventh and eighth innings to tie the game, but could not find a way to get the runner home.

Right-hander Kyler Newby worked a 1-2-3 ninth, as Bowie handed Harrisburg its third consecutive defeat. Timothy Bascom improved to 3-2 on the season for Bowie by recording his second win of the year against the Senators. Bascom threw seven innings for the Baysox, scattering five hits.

The two teams close out the series Sunday afternoon at Metro Bank Park. First-pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. RHP Paul Demny (2-2, 4.91) takes the mound for the Senators, as Bowie counter with RHP Bobby Bundy (2-6, 5.27). The game can be heard locally on Fox 1460 WTKT, on the Internet through the Senators website, and is available on all mobile devices at iHeart Radio beginning with the pregame show at 6:40 p.m.
