New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

MANCHESTER, NH. - John Tolisano hit his first home run since August of 2011, but the Fisher Cats (16-24) failed to generate enough offense in a 3-1 loss to the Trenton Thunder (21-18) on Saturday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The loss is the second straight where the Fisher Cats scored their lone run on a solo home run, leaving them in need of a Sunday win to avoid a sweep to Trenton.

Tolisano struck as the lead-off hitter in the bottom of the sixth, trailing 3-0. The Florida native crushed a 1-1 offering from Lee Hyde onto the roof the Samuel Adams Bar and Grill for his first homer of the season. The long ball came on his 115th at-bat of the season as he left the yard for the first time since August 23, 2011 against the same Thunder team.

The homer was the long bright spot as the Fisher Cats fell behind early when Trenton scored a run in the first inning against starter Randy Boone (L; 0-2). Boone left the game with an apparent injury after just four batters, but the Thunder never trailed from that point on.

After 2.2 scoreless from Aaron Loup in relief, Danny Farquhar surrendered a pair of runs to build the Thunder lead to 3-0. Fernando Hernandez tossed three perfect innings before turning it over to Ronald Uviedo for the final three outs.

Tolisano led a six-hit attack with a pair of base hits and a walk. Brian Van Kirk went 1-4 to extend his hitting streak to seven games. Justin Jackson and Ryan Goins added singles while Sean Ochinko registered his first career Double-A hit.

The series now comes to an end on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 PM. The first 2,500 fans receive a Fisher Cats Team Poster courtesy of Spectrum Marketing Companies.
