Justin Nicolino (W, 12-4) earned his Southern League-leading 12th victory on Wednesday, surrendering five runs (all earned) on nine hits with three strikeouts and no walks in his five innings of work.

Blake Logan (H, 3) was sharp in his two scoreless frames, allowing a lone hit while striking out three Wahoos in his Wednesday night outing.

Reid Redman gave up a single run (earned) on two hits with one walk in his one inning of relief.

Nick Wittgren finished off the game in a non-save situation for Jacksonville with a scoreless ninth inning, surrendering just two hits along the way.

Robert Stephenson (L, 6-9) took the loss for Pensacola after he gave up eight runs (seven earned) on six hits with a pair of walks and five strikeouts in a losing effort.

Pensacola opened up the scoring on Wednesday night with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. A Kyle Waldrop RBI double and a Seth Mejias-Brean two-out RBI single put the Blue Wahoos up 2-0 after the first half inning of play.

But the Suns immediately had their counterpunch, taking the lead by scoring three times in the bottom of the first. A ringing RBI double to center from Austin Barnes and a two-run homer to left by J.T. Realmuto (HR, 7) gave the Suns a 3-2 advantage with one inning complete.

The Blue Wahoos jumped back in front after Yorman Rodriguez (HR, 8) went deep for the third consecutive game. His two-out, two-run shot to right field put Pensacola up 4-3 in the top of the second.

The back-and-forth affair continued with Jacksonville re-taking the lead after grabbing two runs in the bottom of the third. Viosergy Rosa's (HR, 1) first home run at the Double-A level was a two run shot that gave the Suns a 5-4 lead after three innings.

The Suns continued to hit Robert Stephenson hard as they added to their advantage in the bottom of the fourth. Jacksonville got two runs on a two-out triple from J.T. Realmuto and added another when Realmuto scored on Stephenson's wild pitch to give the Suns an 8-4 edge with four innings in the books.

Travis Mattair (HR, 13) chipped into Jacksonville's lead when his opposite field two-out solo homer made it an 8-5 Suns lead in the top of the fifth.

The Suns used some two-out magic to plate a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to extend their lead to 10-5. A Joe Benson RBI double and an Isaac Galloway RBI single pushed Jacksonville's advantage to five runs with seven innings complete.

Pensacola answered back with some two-out magic of their own as Devin Lohman's two-out RBI single in the top of the eighth cut the Suns' lead to 10-6 and cap off the scoring on Wednesday night.

With the win, the Suns have earned a series victory with Thursday's series finale still to come.

The Suns and Blue Wahoos will be back at it on Thursday, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. ET. The Suns are yet to announce their starter while the Blue Wahoos will send out right-hander Michael Lorenzen (4-6, 3.01).
