Offense Helps Wild Things Defeat Otters

Washington, Pa. - Three home runs helped the Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial, power past to the Evansville Otters 6-4 Tuesday night at CONSOL Energy Park.

The Wild Things got on the board in the bottom of the second. Jacob Dempsey scored on a single Eric Stephens and Mark McGonigle scored on an error by the catcher. Stephens scored on a single by Alan Robbins and Chris Sidick hit a two-run home run, his third of the season, to make the score 5-0.

Washington added on to their lead in the bottom of the third when Luis Rivera hit a solo home run to leftfield to make the score 6-0. It was his fourth home run of the season.

The Otters got on the board in the top of the fourth when Vinnie Scarduzio doubled in Jake Rogers to make the score 6-1.

Evansville added on to their score in the top of the fifth after Greg Alexander hit a three-run home run to make the score 6-4.

Wild Things starting pitcher Spencer Hylander went five innings giving up four runs on seven hits. He walked two and struck out two in the victory. Eryk McConnell picked up his sixth save this season.

Evansville starter, Eduardo Perez pitched 3.2 innings giving six runs on seven hits. He walked one and struck out two in the loss.

The Wild Things continue series with the Evansville Otters at 7:05 p.m. at CONSOL Energy Park Wednesday. The second game of the series marks Kids Eat Free Night presented by Chesapeake Energy. Pre-game coverage starts at 6:55 p.m. on WJPA 95.3 FM.
