Normal CornBelters News Release
NORMAL, IL - The Normal CornBelters, presented by the Illinois Corn Farmers, had their three game winning streak snapped at the hands of the visiting Oakland County Cruisers Tuesday night at the Corn Crib in Normal. Oakland County put up 10 runs over two innings en route to an 11-1 win. Oakland County scored seven in the second and three runs in the third before notching their final tally in the fifth.
The Cruisers chased CornBelters' starter Kevin Kreier after only 1 2/3 innings pitched and suffered the loss giving up four hits, walking three batters and allowing seven runs to cross the plate. Reliever Bobby Pritchett then came in for Kreier and gave up three runs and five hits in just on inning of work. The only other run came off Matt Coburn, but he did last 3 1/3 innings and struck out four Oakland County hitters. Andrew Guarrasi and Greg Lane finished out the game for the CornBelters.
Normal's offense had trouble solving Oakland County starter James Albury who picked up the win working seven innings giving up five hits and striking out three while walking no one. The only CornBelters' run came off the bat of centerfielder Ross McCoy in the bottom of the eighth inning off a solo home run. McCoy finished the night 1-3, and the CornBelters were only able to tally six hits.
The two teams meet again Wednesday night at the Corn Crib with game time set for 7:05pm and can be heard on 95.9 WEZC or WJBC.com with pregame starting at 6:45 pm.
