Offense Explodes in Trenton's 19-9 Win at Harrisburg

(Harrisburg, PA) - Trenton poured in season-high totals of 19 runs and 22 hits including five home runs as the Thunder drubbed the Harrisburg Senators, 19-9, Saturday night in a slugfest at Metro Bank Park. Trenton (38-28) batted around and scored six runs in both the first and sixth innings in the blowout victory.

Jose Gil's three-run opposite field blast capped the six-run rally in the first against Harrisburg starter Paul Demny (4-4). After Zoilo Almonte's two-run single in the second inning made it 8-1 Trenton, Jose Pirela connected on a three-run home run in the third against Demny, his third of the year. Demny allowed 11 runs in three innings.

After Harrisburg closed to within 11-6, the Thunder struck for six more in the sixth against reliever Patrick McCoy. Luke Murton (two-run) and Addison Maruszak hit home runs in the 10-batter inning. Melky Mesa's solo shot in the seventh was the fifth Thunder long ball of the night.

Brett Marshall (7-3) allowed six runs (five earned) in six innings to earn his team-leading seventh win. Pirela and David Adams each a had four-hit game for Trenton to pace the 22-hit attack.

The Thunder and Senators conclude the three-game series with the rubber match on Sunday afternoon with first pitch slated for 2:00 pm. Right-hander Ryan Pope (3-5) will make a spot start for Trenton while righty Ryan Tatusko (1-1) will do the same for Harrisburg.
