
Odessa Shuts Out Eagles 7-0

ODESSA, TX- The Colorado Eagles lost to the Odessa Jackalopes Friday night 7-0 at the Ector County Coliseum marking their worst loss in team history. Five different Jackalopes scored and Jay Tulippe and Mike Ramsay each had two goals in their first regulation victory over Colorado in team history. Derek Dolson stopped all 34 shots he faced and shutout the Eagles for the first time this season and first time in 25 games. Colorado has been outscored 14-2 in their last two games and have only scored one goal in their last 119:13. The Eagles look to bounce back against the Lubbock Cotton Kings Saturday night at the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum, game time is set for 6:05 p.m. MST
The Jackalopes quickly took advantage of a power play opportunity scoring just 1:27 into the game on a goal by Mike Ramsay. He was assisted by Steve Shrum and Mike Rutter. Eight minutes later, the Jackalopes capitalized on another power play opportunity when Strum scored his 11th goal of the season. The Eagles were called for six minor penalties in the first period and gave up two power play goals on four opportunites while they finishe 0-3 with the man advantage. Shots were even at 13, however the Eagles found themselves down 2-0 going into the first intermission.
The Jackalopes extended their lead in the second period with three more special teams goals. Jay Latulippe scored an unassisted shorthanded goal at the 5:43 mark for the first shorthanded goal given up by the Eagles this season. Pascal Bedard scored the third power play goal of the game for the Jackalopes at the 16:28 mark and Latulippe added his second goal of the period with power play goal with only 56 seconds remaining in the period.
Mike Ramsay scored the first even strength goal of the game at the 2:53 mark of the third period to give the Jackalopes a 6-0 lead. Tim Boron replaced Eagles goaltender Marco Emond and gave up a goal on the first shot he faced. Following that Boron made a great glove save to keep the Jackalopes from scoring their seventh goal, but it wouldn't last very long as Blaine Bablitz scored at the 14:23 mark to give the Jacks a 7-0 lead. The score remained 7-0 and the Jackalopes won their first game in regulation against the Colorado Eagles in team history. Final Score: Eagles 0 - Jackalopes 7.
