THE WEEK THAT WAS Wednesday, October 5th - 6-3 Loss vs. Kelowna: The Hurricanes were handed their first home defeat on Wednesday as the Kelowna Rockets scored four unanswered goals in the third period to win 6-3. Friday, October 7th - 5-3 Win at Spokane: The Hurricanes earned a 5-3 win against the Spokane Chiefs. It was their first win in Spokane since 2003. The 'Canes scored five goals on 14 shots chasing former 'Canes goalie Jayden Sittler. Saturday, October 8th - 6-5 SO Loss at Tri-City: The Hurricanes surrendered four leads in regulation and a lead in the shootout to drop a 6-5 decision to the Americans. Jesse Zaharichuk scored his first ever hat- trick while adding an assist in the win.
THIS WEEK'S GAME SCHEDULE Wednesday, October 12th, 7:00pm vs. Victoria Royals: The Hurricanes will host Carter Folk and the Victoria Royals on Wednesday at the ENMAX Centre. It's the first of three meetings on the season between the 'Canes and Royals. The two teams split games last year. Friday, October 13th, 7:00pm vs. Vancouver Giants: Another former Hurricane returns as Darian Skeoch and his Vancouver Giants roll into town for a Friday tilt at the ENMAX Centre. The 'Canes and Giants will meet twice this season, both coming in the next three weeks. The clubs split two meetings last year. Saturday, October 8th, 7:00pm vs. Regina Pats: The Hurricanes will wrap up a three-game home stand on Saturday in a rematch of last year's first round playoff match up as the Regina Pats come to town for the first of two meetings. PRACTICE SCHEDULE Monday, October 10th - NO ICE Tuesday, October 11th - 12:30pm to 3:00pm (ENMAX Centre) Wednesday, October 12th - 10:00am to 11:00am (ENMAX Centre) GAME: 7:00pm vs. Victoria Royals Thursday, October 13th - 12:30pm to 3:00pm (ENMAX Centre) Friday, October 14th - 10:00am to 11:00am (ENMAX Centre) GAME: 7:00pm vs. Vancouver Giants Saturday, October 15th - GAME: 7:00pm vs. Regina Pats Sunday, October 16th - NO ICE ** Media Availability on Practice Days will be from 12:00pm until 12:30pm prior to practice ** ** Media Availability on Game Days will be from 10:20am to 10:45am following the skate ** NEWS & NOTES Shamray Re-Assigned: The Hurricanes announced Tuesday that they have re-assigned 18-year-old defenseman Riley Shamray back to the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. The Oak River, MB product appeared in five regular season and four pre-season games with the Hurricanes. The 'Canes are now down to 23 players including two goaltenders, seven defenseman and 14 forwards. Top 30 Players: The Hurricanes continue to unveil their Top 30 Players in franchise history. Coming in at #24 was current Los Angeles King, Dwight King. King was the younger brother of former Hurricane DJ King. Dwight appeared in 273 regular season games with the Hurricanes collecting a total of 189 points (79g-110a). He is a two-time Stanley Cup Champion in 2012 and 2014, both with the Kings.
