
Hurricanes Re-Assign Shamray

LETHBRIDGE, AB-The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced on Tuesday that the Club has re-assigned defenseman Riley Shamray to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. Shamray, 18, was acquired in the summer from the Calgary Hitmen in exchange for a seventh round draft pick and was later signed by the Hurricanes to a Western Hockey League Standard Player's Agreement. The Oak River, Manitoba product appeared in five regular season games this season for the Hurricanes going pointless with a minus-1 rating and five penalty minutes. He also appeared in four pre-season contests registering zero points and two penalty minutes with a minus-3 rating. The Hurricanes are now down to 23 players on their roster including two goaltenders, seven defenseman and 14 forwards. The Hurricanes are back in action on Wednesday when they kick off a three-game home stand against the Victoria Royals. The 'Canes will welcome the Vancouver Giants on Friday before the Regina Pats on Saturday.
