(Trenton, NJ)---Sean Ochinko hit a two-run homer, part of a five-run third inning and Brian Bocock and Justin Jackson had three hits apiece, but Trenton topped the Fisher Cats 10-7 in a matinee at Waterfront Park on Monday.
All of the runs in the high-scoring affair crossed in the first four innings of the contest. The Fisher Cats opened the scoring in the top of the first inning. Bocock singled and moved to second on a wild pitch and then Ryan Goins walked. Ochinko delivered a two-out single to left, scoring Bocock for a 1-0 lead.
Trenton (32-23) tied the game in the bottom of the first inning. Jose Pirela, who went 11-for-19 with two homers and two doubles in the four-game series, doubled and scored on a single by David Adams.
New Hampshire (21-34) put together three singles for a run in the top of the second inning. Mark Sobolewski, Jackson and Bocock singled. Bocock's hit plated Sobolewski from second base for a 2-1 lead.
In the Thunder second inning, Luke Murton doubled and Kevin Mahoney ripped the first pitch he saw from New Hampshire starter Chad Jenkins for a two-run home run and a 3-2 lead for Trenton.
Ochinko hit his fourth homer of the season, a two-run shot, Jackson tripled in two runs and John Tolisano had an RBI single as the Fisher Cats matched the most productive inning of the season, sending ten batters to the plate in a five-run third inning for a 7-3 lead.
The Thunder loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the third inning, scoring a run on a double play to cut the lead to 7-4.
After scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to chase New Hampshire starter Chad Jenkins from the game, Trenton loaded the bases again and Zoilo Almonte hit a grand slam to make it 10-7 Thunder.
Jenkins (2-5) took the loss, allowing eight runs on nine hits in just 3.2 innings. Yohan Pino allowed two runs, including the grand slam. Matt Daly finished up with two scoreless innings in relief.
Shaeffer Hall (5-5) survived six innings for Trenton, which now shares first place in the Eastern Division with New Britain. Ryan Flannery worked two scoreless innings and Preston Claiborne worked around a Kevin Howard single in the ninth for his fifth save.
