Nurse Invited to National Junior Team Selection Camp

Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Hockey League, announced moments ago their Canadian National Junior Team Sport Chek Selection Camp roster for the upcoming 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Among the twenty-nine invitees were ten defenceman, including Greyhounds Captain DARNELL NURSE.

"The Soo Greyhounds are extremely proud and excited at the opportunity that lies ahead for Darnell" began Greyhounds GM Kyle Raftis.

"We wish him the best of luck as he is now a step closer to the great honour of competing for Team Canada at the World Junior Championships" he continued.

The Hamilton, ON native is currently in his 4th season with the Greyhounds. Since returning to the Hounds (from Edmonton) on Friday, October 17, 2014, Nurse is averaging over a point-per-game, with 6 goals and 10 assists good for 16 points in 16 games played.

Last month he captained Team OHL versus Team Russia at the Subway Super Series while back in August he was one of 41 players invited to the Summer Development Camp by Hockey Canada.

The National Junior Team will play in three exhibition games prior to the tournament:

Friday, December 19 vs Russia (Air Canada Centre) - 7 p.m.

Sunday, December 21 vs Sweden (Canadian Tire Centre) - 7 p.m.

Tuesday, December 23 vs Switzerland (Bell Centre) - 7 p.m.

Team Canada will then play in Group A at the tournament among Team USA, Team Germany, Team Slovakia and Team Finland.
