Sudbury Wolves News Release

The Sudbury Wolves played a solid road game on Saturday night when they played the second-place Barrie Colts. Despite having a 3-1 lead at the mid-point of the game, the Colts fought-back to tie the score and eventually scored in overtime to record a 4-3 overtime victory.

Nathan Pancel gave the Wolves an early 1-0 lead before the Colts tied the contest in the first period. In the second, Danny Desrochers scored on the power play and Matt Schmalz scored moments later to give the Wolves a 3-1 lead. Once again, the Colts stormed back to tie the game 3-3 before the end of the second period. Shots on goal after the second period were 14-14.

The teams played a scoreless third period and Wolves' goaltender Troy Timpano stopped all 14 shots that he faced in the third period. The Wolves managed five shots in the third period. The Colts scored 33 seconds into overtime on an individual effort by leading scorer Joseph Blandisi.

The Wolves faced some controversy in the contest as the Colts enjoyed five power plays during the contest. Sudbury had just one power play during the game and that call should have been a penalty shot -- as Nathan Pancel was hauled-down on a break-away. Nevertheless, the Wolves hung in there and played a solid road game. Nathan Pancel was named as the game's third star.
