EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Evansville Otters (20-13) received two hits each from outfielders Jeremy Nowak and John Schultz but the team was defeated 4-2 in the series finale against the Traverse City Beach Bums (21-10) on Sunday night.
Evansville scored first with two runs in the opening frame. Outfielder Chris Sweeney laced a two-run double to right-center and the Otters added a run on a fielding error for the 2-0 edge.
Down by two, Traverse City tallied a run off an Evansville error in the second and scored three unearned runs in the fifth.
Trailing 4-2, Evansville rallied in the eighth putting men on second and third with no outs but reliever Chuck Ghysels then retired the next three hitters to maintain the two run edge.
