North Division Regular Season Champions Travel West This Week

The Hamilton Bulldogs (American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) will look to extend their 11-game road point streak this week as they travel west to meet two of their Canadian foes. The 'Dogs have four games slated for this week, beginning with back-to-back games against the Manitoba Moose (AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks) on Tuesday, March 23rd at 8:30 PM EST and Wednesday, March 24th at 8:30 p.m. EST. The Bulldogs will then battle the Abbotsford Heat (AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames) in back-to-back games on Friday, March 26th at 10:30 p.m. EST and Saturday, March 27th at 7:00 p.m. EST.

Last week, the Bulldogs began their seven-game road trip with two victories and one loss. The 'Dogs started the week in Glens Falls, NY with a 6-5 comeback victory over the Adirondack Phantoms (AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers) as Hamilton scored three unanswered goals in the third period before downing the Phantoms in a shootout. The Bulldogs then travelled to Cleveland where they earned a 5-3 victory over the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche) on Friday, March 19th. Hamilton finished the week with a 4-3 shootout loss to their archrival the Toronto Marlies (AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs) on Saturday, March 20th. The 'Dogs earned a point in the loss which clinched first place in the North Division and their third division title in franchise history.

BULLDOGS NOTES:

-The Bulldogs had their season-best and franchise record-tying nine-game winning streak snapped when they fell to the Grand Rapids Griffins 3-2 on Friday, March 12th. -Hamilton's 101 points are currently 22 more than any other team in the North Division. -The 'Dogs clinched the North Division title this past weekend. It is the third division title in franchise history for the Bulldogs as they won the Canadian Division in 2002-2003 and the North Division in 2003-2004. -Bulldogs C Brock Trotter is currently the AHL's 8th leading scorer with 31 goals and 36 assists for 67 points on the year. -Hamilton is currently on an 11-game road point streak. The club has not lost a game in regulation on the road since January 23rd when they were defeated 4-3 by the Toronto Marlies. -Hamilton D P.K. Subban set a new franchise record for goals by a Bulldogs defenceman in a single season. Subban recorded his 17th goal in Friday's 5-3 win over Lake Erie which passed the previous mark of 16 that was set by teammate Yannick Weber in 2008-2009. Subban now has 17 goals and 34 assists this season, complemented by a +39 rating - the second highest +/- rating in the league. Subban's point total this year (51) is also a new franchise record for most points by a Bulldogs defenceman in a single season as he broke the previous record of 45. -The goaltending tandem of Cedrick Desjardins and Curtis Sanford has been spectacular between the pipes for Hamilton this season, resulting in a league best 2.29 team goals against average. Desjardins' 2.02 GAA puts him in top spot in the AHL in that category, while Sanford's 2.11 GAA ranks him 3rd in the league. -Bulldogs D Andre Benoit set a new franchise record for career points by a Bulldogs defenceman with his 86th career point in Hamilton's 4-1 win over Adirondack on March 3rd. Benoit assisted on Mike Glumac's second period goal, giving him the new title as the highest scoring defenceman in Bulldogs history.

-Montreal forward Sergei Kostitsyn scored the game-winning goal as the Canadiens defeated the New York Rangers 3-1 (Mar. 16), -Edmonton C Shawn Horcoff scored a goal and added an assist in a 5-1 win over the San Jose Sharks (Mar. 21) -Anaheim forward Kyle Chipchura earned an assist and was +1 in a 4-2 win over Chicago (Mar. 17) before adding another assist in a 5-4 overtime victory over the New York Islanders (Mar. 19) - Montreal C Tomas Plekanec potted a goal in the Canadiens' 3-1 victory for the Rangers (Mar. 16) -Minnesota forward Antti Miettinen posted a goal in the Wild's 4-2 win over Edmonton (Mar. 16) and then added an assist in a 4-2 loss to Columbus (Mar. 19) -Edmonton forward Fernando Pisani notched a goal and added an assist while having a +2 rating in Edmonton's 5-1 win over San Jose (Mar. 21) -Dallas forward Mike Ribiero scored two goals and added two assists while being a +4 in a 8-2 victory of the Sharks (Mar. 16) before adding his third goal of the week in a 5-4 win over Ottawa (Mar. 20) -Atlanta defenceman Ron Hainsey ended the week on a three-game point streak after he earned assist in a 6-3 win over the Senators (Mar. 18), an assist in a 5-2 win over Philadelphia and scored a goal and added two assists for a three-point night in a 3-1 win over the Flyers (Mar. 21) -Boston forward Michael Ryder had a two-point night as he scored a goal and added an assist while being a +2 in a 5-2 win over Carolina (Mar. 16)
