AVON, Ohio -- The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, stranded 10 base runners at All Pro Freight Stadium on Friday night, in a 7-1 loss to the Normal Cornbelters.

For the Crushers (27-29) the loss snapped a four-game home winning streak, and marked their first game at home in 12 days, while the victory for the Cornbelters (27-31) was their third in their last four games.

Lake Erie was limited to just four hits on the night, and despite walking seven times, they could not capitalize on those opportunities. They left the bases loaded in two separate innings.

Normal fired the first shot in the top of the second inning, on a solo homer from Nolan Meadows. After Santiago Chirino's RBI single in the top of the third, Meadows struck again an inning later, with another solo bomb in the top of the fourth inning, his 16th homer of the season to give the Belters a 3-0 lead.

After Meadows's solo homer in the fourth, the 'Belters added two more runs, on RBI singles from Dylan Kelly and Justin Fletcher. Normal had the bases loaded with one out in the inning, when Steve Hagen (3-4) induced an inning ending, 1-2-3 double play.

The Crushers scored their lone run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Eric Grabe reached on an error, before advancing to second on a walk. A wild pitch put Grabe on third, and he came around to score on a wild pitch as well.

Normal added single runs in the eighth and ninth. Dylan Kelly belted a RBI single to plate Brandon Roberts in the eighth, and Dillon Haupt's RBI single scored Chirino in the ninth.

Hurley led the way for the Lake Erie offense, delivering two of Lake Erie's four hits on the night, going 2-for-3 with a walk and a double. Jose Barraza saw his 14 game on base streak come to an end in an 0-for-4 performance.

Despite issuing seven walks, Normal's Mike Schweiss (5-4) picked up the victory after allowing just an unearned run on three hits while fanning seven over six innings. Hagen took the loss for the Crushers after surrendering five runs, four earned on nine hits while fanning four over six innings of action.

The Crushers will continue their three-game series with the Normal Cornbelters at All Pro Freight Stadium on Saturday night. Right-hander Mike Devine (7-2, 2.51) will start for the Crushers and the Cornbelters will go with right-hander Chris Carmain (2-6, 4.85). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
