NORFOLK, Va. -- Norfolk starting pitcher Chris George scattered five hits and allowed a lone earned run while relievers Troy Patton and Mark Worrell combined to give up just one late Indianapolis run the rest of the way in the Tides' 5-2 defeat of the Indians on Saturday evening at Harbor Park.

With the loss the Indians drop their record to 9-21, while the Tides improved to 12-17 with the victory. The win also gives Norfolk a 2-1 edge in the series.

George (6.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 SO) earned the victory to improve his record to 2-2 after holding the Tribe to a lone earned run on five hits to go with five punchouts in his six innings of work. Patton (2.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 SO) worked 2.1 innings of relief, surrendering an earned run on three hits, while Worrell (0.2 IP, 1 H, 1 SO) finished off the ninth to pick up his fifth save of the year.

Norfolk jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning thanks in part to a pair of RBI doubles by LF Nolan Reimold and 3B Josh Bell. CF Tyler Henson led off the frame with a single, moved to second on SS J.J. Hardy's base knock and scored on Reimold's double for the first run, before Hardy scored on a passed ball and Reimold came home on Bell's RBI two-bagger.

Indianapolis then plated their first run of the contest in the fourth frame when LF Alex Presley singled, advanced to second on 1B Matt Hague's base hit to right before coming home on 3B Josh Harrison's single to left to cut the deficit to 3-1. The base hit for Harrison was his first hit since coming off the disabled list and extended his hitting streak to six games.

The Tides however brought the lead back to three in the sixth on 2B Brendan Harris' sacrifice fly that scored Bell, who led off the inning with a walk, stole second and got to third on a single from DH Rhyne Hughes. An additional insurance run came an inning later when 1B Brandon Snyder drove home Henson, who began the frame with a free pass and went to second on a balk before come home on Snyder's base knock.

The Indians plated their final run of the game in the ninth when Harrison walked to start the inning and advanced to third on C Dusty Brown's single before coming across on RF Andrew Lambo's sacrifice fly to right to decrease the margin to 5-2.

Presley (3-for-4, 1 R) totaled three hits for the Tribe to increase his league-leading hits total to 40 this season, while Henson (2-for-3, 2 R, 1 BB) was the only Tides player to tally a multi-hit game, in addition to two runs scored. With his three hit effort, the outfielder has collected multiple hits in five of his last six games.

Indians LHP Justin Wilson (5.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 SO) suffered the loss to fall to 2-3 this year despite giving up just two earned runs on six hits along with four punchouts in his five frames, while left handed relievers Tony Watson (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO) and Garrett Olson (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB) each surrendered an earned run on one hit and walked a batter. Tribe closer Tim Wood (1.0 IP, 1 SO) fired a perfect final frame, fanning one hitter.

The Indians and Tides will meet for the final time this season Sunday at 1:15 p.m. RHP Brad Lincoln is scheduled to take the hill for the Tribe, while the Tides are expected to counter with LHP Michael Ballard.

The contest will be carried on WNDE 1260 AM, WNDE.com and via iheartradio, a mobile application for iPhone, Blackberry and Android phones with Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley on the call. The pre-game show begins at 12:55 p.m.
