Two ninth-inning home runs gave the Lakewood BlueClaws a come-from-behind 5-3 win over the Lexington Legends Monday night in Lakewood. The loss ended the Legends' winning streak at five games.

The Legends had taken a 3-2 lead in the eighth inning on singles by J.D. Martinez and Aaron Bray, a walk to Jonathan Meyer and a sacrifice fly by Rene Garcia. But Lakewood's Anthony Hewitt led off the bottom of the ninth with a home run off Legends closer Kirk Clark to tie the game. Clark retired pinch hitter Keoni deRenne on a line drive to center field, but Alan Schoenberger drew a walk and Jiwan James followed with his third home run of the year to give the BlueClaws the victory.

The Legends scored the game's first run in the fifth inning. Bray walked with one out, and after Jonathan Meyer flied out, Rene Garcia singled, sending Bray to second base. Brian Kemp was hit by a pitch to load the bases, and Bray came home on a wild pitch by Lakewood starter Jerred Cosart.

But the BlueClaws came back with two runs in their half of the fifth against Legends' starter Robby Donovan. Sebastian Valle led off with a single. Adam Buschini grounded to third baseman Jonathan Meyer, who threw wide of second base as he tried to start a double play, and both runners were safe. Hewitt and Stephen Batts both walked to bring in the tying run, and with two outs, Jonathan Villar drew another walk to put Lakewood in front 2-1.

Lexington tied it in the sixth on a walk to Jiovanni Mier, a single by Jake Goebbert, and a two-out single by Aaron Bray.

Clark (2-1), who was selected to the South Atlantic League Southern Division All-Star team, took the loss along with his second blown save of the year. He had converted 12 straight save opportunities since his first blown save, which came in the opening game of the season.

Luke Wertz (2-1) pitched the ninth inning for Lakewood and picked up the win. The two teams will meet in the second game of a three-game series Tuesday night in Lakewood. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
