Dunedin Blue Jays News Release

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL. - It was a 3 hour and 35 minute marathon in the final game, which was the longest game of the year for Dunedin. A day after the offense was unable to break the run column the Blue Jays made up for it in the final game of the series. The first three innings seemed to be similar to the game on Tuesday as the Blue Jays couldn't string together any hits, but Maximo Castillo was dominate through the first three innings as well with two hits given up and no runners reaching scoring position.

The Blue Jays exploded in the 4th inning for a scoring frenzy that would give them nine runs, their most runs scored in one inning during the season. Christopher Bec singled to get the inning started. Chavez Young then took a 3-2 pitch to left field for his second home run of the year. The bases would be loaded for Kevin Vicuna after Jesus Navarro singled to score Kacy Clemens. Vicuna grounded into a double play that seemed to halt the momentum for Dunedin, but Norberto Obeso came up with the next at-bat the single home Samad Taylor. After a couple of walks and hits from Young and Demi Orimoloye the inning would finish at nine runs scored. The totals for the inning included eight hits and four walks. Two hits went for extra bases and the Mets were forced into two pitching changes through the one inning. 14 batters came to the plate with the final out coming by way of a Samad Taylor strikeout.

Dunedin finished the game with 14 total hits and 11 runs scored, which is the fourth game this season with 10 or more runs scored. The 2018 Dunedin Blue Jays had six total games of 10 or more runs all last year. The Blue Jays gave up two runs in the 5th and 3 runs in the 8th, but Dunedin was always in control of the last game to close out the series in style against the Mets.
