(Central Islip, N.Y., June 28, 2011) - The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 10-8 on Tuesday night in the opener of a three-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.
The Revolution jumped out to an early 5-0 lead against Ducks' starter Ruddy Lugo. RBI doubles from Ramon Castro and James Shanks along with a two-run homer from Chris Nowak did the damage in the first.
Long Island responded with a nine-run inning against Revs' starter Shaun Garceau and reliever Matt DeSalvo. Ray Navarrete drove in three runs with a pair of singles while J.R. House clubbed a grand slam to left, as the Ducks sent 13 men to the plate.
Navarrete continued his great night with a RBI single in the sixth to increase the lead to 10-5. York rallied for a run in the seventh and two more in the ninth on a two-run homer from Salvador Paniagua, but Bubbie Buzachero worked out of trouble to secure the win.
Shane Youman (3-0) picked up the win with four innings of shutout baseball out of the bullpen, including three strikeouts. Garceau (1-5) suffered the loss after allowing six runs (five earned) on two hits and three walks without recording an out.
