Niederberger Returns to Reign

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, announced the return of rookie goaltender Mathias Niederberger from the team's AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs.

Niederberger, 21, made one appearance for Manchester, when he relieved former Reign goaltender JF Berube, on Sunday, Jan. 5. After playing for 36 minutes, Niederberger stopped 13 of 14 shots for a 1.67 goals-against average and .929 save percentage. The Jan. 5 game marked the Dusseldorf, Germany native's AHL debut.

While with the Reign, Niederberger has played in six games with a 2-1-2 record, 2.79 goals-against average, and .889 save percentage.

Niederberger is currently under contract with the NHL's Los Angeles Kings.
