SYRACUSE, NY - Gift Ngoepe's three-run home run in the top of the ninth broke a 3-3 tie and handed the Indianapolis Indians a 6-3 win over Syracuse on Thursday at NBT Bank Stadium. The victory secured a series split.

Walks from Dan Gamache and Willy Garcia set the table in the game's final frame. Jacob Stallings attempted to bunt the two over, but Gamache was thrown out at third on a fielder's choice. Ngoepe then worked a full count with one away before belting a monster home run to center field.

It was the first three-RBI game for Ngoepe in nearly a year, last notching a trio on May 19, 2015 with Double-A Altoona. He last homered on June 13 of last season.

Top prospect Tyler Glasnow took the hill for Indianapolis (17-15) to start, but struggled some through five innings, allowing three runs and walking five. Curtis Partch (1-0) earned the win for two innings of hitless, shutout ball.

Erik Davis (3-1) took the loss for Syracuse (19-14).

The Indians answered Syracuse's first-inning run with scores in the third and fourth to take the lead. The Chiefs then plated two in the bottom of the fourth to hold a 3-2 advantage before the Tribe tied the game in the sixth on Danny Ortiz's third home run of the season.

The Tribe travels to take on Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday to open a three-game series. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
