Red Bull New York News Release
HARRISON, N.J. - The New York Red Bulls will travel to face the Philadelphia Union in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 on Wednesday, June 29, as determined today in a draw held by U.S. Soccer. Kickoff at Talen Energy Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Red Bulls advanced to the Round of 16 by ousting the Rochester Rhinos (USL), 1-0 on Wednesday night in Rochester on the strength of a Sacha Kljestan goal from the penalty spot.
It will be a rematch of last year's Open Cup quarterfinal match at Red Bull Arena, which the Union took on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
The Union advanced by downing a USL side as well, defeating the Harrisburg City Islanders, 3-2. The Red Bulls and Union also have three regular season matches remaining this season, including two of the final three games of the regular season.
The winner of the matchup will travel to the winner of the other Eastern region Round of 16 match, which features the New England Revolution at the New York Cosmos (NASL).
The Red Bulls are home this weekend to host the Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday, June 19. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (TV: Fox Sports 1 Radio: Red Bulls Radio).
