New York Red Bulls News Release
HARRISON, N.J. - The New York Red Bulls, in conjunction with Pazzo Sports, will host Liga MX side and back-to-back reigning CONCACAF Champions League winners Club America on Wednesday, July 6, the club announced today. Kickoff for the match is set for 8 p.m. at Red Bull Arena.
New York Red Bulls Red Members will receive their regular seats for this match as a bonus event with their 2016 Red Membership, and will have access to a pre-sale to purchase additional tickets beginning tomorrow, Friday, June 17 from 10 a.m. to noon.
The remaining tickets will go on-sale to the general public tomorrow, June 17, at noon.
Club America, founded in 1916, is the most successful and recognizable club in Mexico. The club, which will celebrate its 100th season in 2016-2017, has won a record seven CONCACAF Champions League titles, including back-to-back Champions League trophies in 2014-15 and 2015-16. The club has the most league titles (12) in the modern era of Mexican soccer, and has competed in CONMEBOL's Copa Libertadores and the FIFA Club World Cup.
It will be the first time Club America plays in the New York metro area since July 2011, when the club faced Juventus at the World Football Challenge at Citi Field.
Red Bull Arena has hosted a number of international and club friendlies since opening in 2010. Club America will be the second Liga MX team to play at Red Bull Arena, which has also hosted the Mexican Women's National Team.
In 2015, the Red Bulls played international matches against Chelsea FC on the English Premier League and S.L. Benfica of the Portuguese top flight as part of the International Champions Cup.
The New York Red Bulls are home this weekend to host Seattle Sounders FC as MLS play resumes following the group stage of the Copa America tournament. Kickoff at Red Bull Arena is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (TV: Fox Sports 1 Radio: Red Bulls Radio).
