
Chicago Fire Host Columbus Crew SC in Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16

CHICAGO - The Chicago Fire will host Columbus Crew SC in the Round of 16 of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Toyota Park on Tuesday, June 28 at 7:30 p.m. CT. The match, which will be available via live web stream on Chicago-Fire.com, is included in the Season Ticket Holder package. Single game tickets will go on sale to the general public at 2 p.m. CT on Friday, June 17. Group tickets are available by calling 888-MLS-FIRE.
The Fire advanced after defeating NASL side Indy Eleven 4-3 in penalty kicks after ending regulation with a 1-1 draw. Crew SC advanced with a 4-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rowdies. The Men in Red are 5-0 all-time against Crew SC in Open Cup play.
Should the Fire advance to the quarterfinal round, the club would host the winner of the Orlando City/Ft. Lauderdale Strikers (NASL) round of sixteen fixture. Tickets to the quarterfinal match are not included in the Season Ticket Holder package, but special offers and ticketing promotions will be announced as the game is confirmed to take place.
Since 1998, the Fire have compiled a 39-13-5 record in Open Cup play, including a 26-1-2 record in matches played in the state of Illinois, reaching the semifinal round 11 times and the final six times. The Fire previously hoisted the coveted Dewar Trophy four times, in 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2006.
