New York Red Bulls News Release
HARRISON, N.J. - The New York Red Bulls have signed attacking midfielder Andreas Ivan to an MLS contract, pending receipt of his P-1 Visa, the club announced today. Ivan, 23, has already amassed nearly 100 professional appearances and represented his native Romania at youth international levels.
The right winger, who previously joined the Red Bulls for a trial in June, will occupy an international spot on the Red Bulls roster.
"We are pleased to welcome Andreas to our club," said Red Bulls Sporting Director Denis Hamlett. "Andreas is a young, dynamic player with a lot of qualities we like. He has already gained a good amount of professional experience and immediately improves our roster. We look forward to seeing how he can continue to grow as a player and contribute to our club."
Ivan, 23, has played professionally in Germany since the 2013-14 season, when he was promoted from the Stuttgart U-19s to the senior team. Since then, the right winger has 96 senior team appearances and 5,783 minutes played with five teams. The Pite?ti, Romania, native has tallied 16 goals and 14 assists across all competitions. Ivan had his best season in 2017-18 with SV Waldhof Mannheim, recording eight goals and six assists in 36 appearances.
"I'm happy to welcome Andy to our club," said Red Bulls Head Coach Chris Armas. "Andy is a dynamic attacker who can unbalance defenses with and without the ball. He has a fearlessness and a great energy about him which will help him fit in right away. We think he's going to be a great addition to our team."
Ivan has represented Romania through the U-21 national team level, and previously appeared for the German U-19 team.
