San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - San Jose Earthquakes defender Kevin Partida underwent ACL reconstruction surgery and a partial meniscectomy on his right knee on Thursday after suffering an injury in the July 7 match against the Portland Timbers. The surgery was performed by Sutter Health's Dr. Richard Gayle and is expected to sideline the defender for at least nine months.
Partida, 23, joined the Earthquakes on a season-long loan from the club's USL affiliate Reno 1868 FC in June, and made four starts and played 290 minutes in MLS regular season for the Quakes. He also started and played the full 90 minutes against Portland in the U.S. Open Cup match on June 6.
Partida was selected by the Earthquakes in the third round of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft (No. 58 overall) and spent preseason with San Jose before signing with Reno. He made eight starts in nine total appearances for 1868 FC this season, scoring one goal.
