New York Red Bulls News Release

HARRISON, NJ (January 20, 2014) - The New York Red Bulls have acquired goalkeeper Kyle Reynish from the Chicago Fire in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, the club announced today.

Reynish, 31, spent last year with the Fire after enjoying a successful 2013 campaign with the New York Cosmos in the North American Soccer League. He made one appearance for the Fire, recording two saves in a 2-1 loss to D.C. United on October 18.

"We are happy to add Kyle to our roster," said Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch. "He is a very good professional and driven goalkeeper who has performed well in MLS when called upon."

Reynish won the 2013 NASL Golden Glove award after recording a 0.92 GAA during the regular season, starting and playing 13 games and earning an 8-4-1 record and tallying five shutouts as the Cosmos finished first in the NASL Fall Season standings. Reynish preserved the clean sheet as the Cosmos defeated the Atlanta Silverbacks 1-0 to capture the 2013 Soccer Bowl.

A native of Valencia, Calif., Reynish won the 2006 national championship at the University of California-Santa Barbara. During his four-year career with the Gauchos, Reynish recorded a 0.82 GAA, 33-13-4 record and earned 23 shutouts.

Selected in the fourth round (43rd overall) by Real Salt Lake in the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft, Reynish made eight appearances over six seasons at RSL.

The Red Bulls loaned backup goalkeeper Ryan Meara to New York City FC in December for the entirety of the 2015 MLS season.
