FORT MILL, S.C. - May 3, 2007 - The Chicago White Sox signed free agent pitcher Jason Childers and assigned him to Charlotte on Thursday. He will join the team in Richmond where the team is involved in a four-game series with the Braves. Childers, 32, spent the 2006 season in Durham appearing in 39 games going 2-3 with a 4.99 ERA. He was called up to the Bulls parent club, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, appearing in 5 games going 0-1 with a 4.70 ERA.
The White Sox also placed pitcher Lance Broadway on the disabled list retroactive to April 30. For the season, Broadway is 0-1, 3.94 in 5 games.
