Buffalo Bisons News Release

TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Syracuse Chiefs in the third game of a four-game series from Alliance Bank Stadium (7:00 p.m.). The Herd comes into today's game on a five-game winning streak following a 7-5 win yesterday. On the mound for Buffalo will be LHP Rafael Perez. The southpaw struck out a season-high seven in a six-inning no-decision last Saturday in Pawtucket. Syracuse will counter with RHP John Thomson, who has no record this season. RUNS A PLENTY: In their last five games, the Bisons have outscored their opponents 46-21. On the year, the Herd has scored 123 runs, tops in the International League (10 more runs than any other team). Seven different Bisons have scored at least 10 runs, with Franklin Gutierrez leading the group with 18 runs scored (2nd in the IL).

RED HOT BAT: Franklin Gutierrez has the longest active hit streak in the International League. The outfielder has hit in 12 straight heading into today's action with a .418 (23-55) average, four doubles, two home runs, seven RBI and 17 runs scored. Ten of the 12 games have been multi-hit performances, raising his season average to .381 (3rd in IL).

ROAD WARRIORS: At 11-3, the Bisons have the best road record in the International League (two more wins than any other team). Last season, the Bisons had just 30 road victories throughout the year. Among those excelling away from Dunn Tire Park are Franklin Gutierrez (.373, 2HR, 6RBI), Jason Cooper (.308, 6 doubles, 7RBI) and Joe Inglett (.333, 1HR, 7RBI).

RUNNING HERD: Franklin Gutierrez stole the Bisons 34th base of the season yesterday. The Herd has had at least one steal in each of their last seven games and is 14 of 16 stealing bases in the first six games of this roadtrip. Buffalo is second in the International League in stolen bases (34) and first in stolen base percentage (87.1%).

ON A POWER TRIP: Keith Ginter has an RBI in each of his last four games (9RBI total). On the year, his 18RBI rank second in the International League.

NEVER TOO LATE: The Bisons have won five straight mainly because of their scoring late in games. In the last five games, 28 of the team's 46 runs have come in the seventh inning or later (61%). Yesterday, a two-run home run by Luis Rivas in the ninth inning proved to be the game-winning runs.
