New Jersey Devils loan Crozier to San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – Mar. 2, 2004 – San Antonio Rampage General Manager Bobby Jay announced today that the New Jersey Devils have loaned left wing Greg Crozier to the Rampage and reassigned defenseman Paul Elliott to Augusta of the ECHL. In addition, defenseman Victor Uchevatov will join the Rampage after being traded to Florida (with left wing Christian Berglund) from the New Jersey Devils yesterday.

Crozier, 27, joins the Rampage from Albany, the Devils' AHL affiliate, after totaling nine goals and seven assists for 16 points in 35 games with the River Rats during the 2003-04 campaign. He was tied for the team lead with two game-winning goals and skated in his 300th AHL contest on Jan. 16, 2004 at Binghamton.

The Calgary, Alberta native recorded 28 goals and 26 assists for 54 points in 91 games with Albany and has career AHL totals of 80 goals, 96 assists for 176 points in 310 games played. He was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins with their fourth choice (73rd overall) in the 1994 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

Elliott, 23, joined the Rampage for his third stint on Feb. 15 and played in nine games and recorded zero points. The White Rock, British Columbia native has appeared in 38 games with San Antonio, registering one assist and 30 penalty minutes.

Uchevatov, 21, is in his third season in the AHL after being drafted by New Jersey in the second round (4th choice, 60th overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound native of Angarsk, Russia has played in 52 games for the Albany River Rats, notching three assists and 46 penalty minutes this season. Uchevatov has played 171 games with Albany since the 2001-02 season, tallying seven assists and 123 penalty minutes. He represented Russia in the 2001 World Junior Championships, posting two assists in six games.
