SPRINGFIELD, MA ... The American Hockey League announced today that Milwaukee Admirals left wing Timofei Shishkanov has been named the AHL Rookie of the Month for February. In 15 games, Shishkanov recorded nine goals and four assists for 13 points and registered a plus-11 rating as the Admirals went 12-2-1-0 and closed in on the top spot in the West Division.

Shishkanov began the month with a season-high three points in a 5-1 win at Toronto on Feb. 1. A week later, he represented Milwaukee at the 2004 Pepsi AHL All-Star Classic and scored a goal in the annual All-Star Game. Then on Feb. 14, Shishkanov scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over rival Chicago, extending the Admirals' unbeaten streak to eight games (7-0-1-0). He capped the month with another two-goal game in a 6-3 victory at Manitoba.

In recognition of his accomplishment, Shishkanov will be presented with an etched crystal trophy by the AHL prior to an upcoming game.

A 20-year-old native of Moscow, Shishkanov is having an outstanding start to his pro career with Milwaukee, where he ranks among the AHL's rookie leaders with 22 goals (second), 41 points (tied for first) and four game-winning scored (tied for second). His plus-23 rating in 57 games is tops among all AHL forwards, and second only to teammate Curtis Murphy (+25) overall.
